PR’s Top Pros Talk… Legal PR
Gina Rubel, founder and CEO of Furia Rubel, was a featured guest on “PR’s Top Pros Talk…,” a podcast hosted by Doug Simon. The podcast breaks down the function of PR for legal clients across B2B and B2C and provides examples of when law firms should be speaking to the media.
Rubel said, “Your corporate law firms are your business-to-business law firms. They’re the firms that work with in-house lawyers so they become what’s called outside counsel. They’re assisting with all of the different things they don’t handle inside the corporation. As it relates to the business-to-consumer audience, those are the law firms that provide services to individuals or families. Personal injury, workers compensation, family and domestic law – all of those things have a very different way of communicating the services and the audience is different.”
Rubel also spoke about the kinds of stories she recommends law firms promote: “Anything that’s proactive or positive, from a merger and acquisition or the launch of a new office in a new geographic region. It could be the hiring of a number of attorneys to lead up a new practice group. We really do try to focus on the bigger stories and even the smaller things.”
The interview also covered how employment issues within law firms are communicated publicly and the different types of language needed when communicating with different audiences.
