Gina Rubel, CEO & General Counsel of Furia Rubel, spoke with Yasmin Zand, host of Passle’s CMO Series REPRESENTS podcast, about the importance of maintaining integrity and embracing diversity in a politically divided climate. The conversation explored Rubel’s commitment to advocacy, DEI, and ethical relationship-building.
Rubel discussed building unity through the Rule of Law Coalition in response to executive orders targeting law firms: “We created this coalition where we could come together—law firm leaders, marketers, communicators—regardless of political affiliation. It wasn’t about taking a side; it was about affirming that we all stand behind the rule of law. It became a safe space to reinforce a shared commitment to legal integrity during an incredibly polarized time.”
Rubel highlighted the importance of strategic communication in politically charged times: “I always talk about the Three Ps: Prepare, Present, and Preserve. Prepare for what might happen—whether it’s a crisis, a controversy, or just change. Present your messaging clearly and objectively, and preserve the firm’s integrity, culture, and reputation through thoughtful, values-driven communication.”
Rubel also discussed the power of confidence and leadership during uncertainty: “When I started my agency, I didn’t have it all figured out. I told myself, ‘Fake it till you make it, girlfriend,’ and that helped me project the confidence I needed to lead. Sometimes, just showing up and believing in your own value is half the battle.”
Rubel emphasized that authenticity and leading with integrity are essential to a successful career: “You have to know who you are and what you stand for. Not everyone will share your perspective, and that’s okay—but if you can’t lead with integrity where you are, it may be time to find a place where you can. Your values should never be compromised for the sake of fitting in.”
