Penn Community Bank

The bank is proud to announce the 2018 donation total of $8,750 for its Workplace Connections program and the new nonprofit partners, Aldie Counseling Center; the James A. Michener Art Museum; Network of Victim Assistance (NOVA); Penn Foundation; and the United Way of Bucks County that will receive contributions from the program for 2019.

Patch.com announced that Treasurer Dorothy Jaworski presented a 2019 Economic Forecast at the Eastern Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce’s Economic Forum & Luncheon. As Director of Treasury and Risk Management, Jaworski manages the bank’s assets and liabilities, oversees its investment portfolio, and is responsible for enterprise risk management and more.

The Intelligencer announced that the bank welcomed commercial lender Janet Hutchinson Nitka to its team of financial experts. She will lead one of the bank’s Real Estate lending teams and serve businesses in southeastern Pennsylvania and the Lehigh Valley.

Lehigh Valley Business featured the latest branch opening for Penn Community Bank. According to the bank, the branch will be in the Doylestown Center shopping complex and will have a 24-hour lobby ATM, as well as private meeting spaces for customers to discuss their financial needs with staff. As the new Doylestown branch opens, the bank will close its Poole’s Corner branch.

The Perkasie News Herald reported that Penn Community Bank announced a pledge of $250,000 over five years to YMCA of Bucks County’s “For A Better Us” campaign.

Patch.com noted that Penn Community Bank donated more than $83,000 to the United Way of Bucks County. The bank employees raised $58,855.50 through various fundraising methods and the bank matched $25,000.

The article discusses the educational placement decisions under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act made by an Individualized Education Program Team.

Partner Andrew D. Taylor moderated a session at the PBA 2019 Family Law Section Winter Meeting held January 19 in Pittsburgh. The session entitled “Lawyers Never Lose Their Appeal” featured four attorneys who conducted mock oral debates before a panel of three Pennsylvania Superior Court Judges.

Partner Kirk Maag recently co-hosted the third annual reception for the Cultivating Change Foundation in Portland on Feb. 15. Founded in 2015, Cultivating Change brings the message of value and inclusion of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) individuals in the agricultural industry through advocacy, education, and community.

UtahPolicy.com announced that former firm partner David J. Williams was sworn in as a judge for Utah’s 2nd District Court. Williams was appointed to the bench by Utah Gov. Gary R. Herbert in October 2018 and confirmed by the Utah Senate in November. He took office in early January and was officially sworn in at the Utah Supreme Court on Jan. 24.

The Legal Intelligencer reported that Willig, Williams & Davidson attorney Kathleen M. Tana was elected to serve as secretary of the Philadelphia Bar Association’s Family Law Section for the 2019 term.

Labor attorney Thomas M. Gribbin, Jr. participated in the 40th Annual National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) Labor Law Conference, giving the union perspective during a panel entitled “Trump Board’s First Year in Review.”

Partner Lauren M. Hoye presented at Yale Law School’s Robert M. Cover Retreat during the weekend of Feb. 22, 2019. She joined law students, academics, and fellow practitioners committed to public interest law sharing their own experiences and educated attendees on the nuances of their law practices. She led the following workshops: Careers & Issues in Labor Law and the Labor Movement and Teacher Strikes, Public Sector Unions and the First Amendment.
