Furia Rubel, a Bucks County public relations and marketing agency, is proud to announce that Founder and President Gina F. Rubel has been named one of the 2010 Women of Distinction by The Legal Intelligencer in association with the Women’s Law Project and the ABA Commission of Women in the Profession.
According to the publication’s editor, Hank Grezlak, “The Women of Distinction Award is bestowed every two years to female attorneys in Pennsylvania who are designated by their peers and stakeholders in the industry as successful practitioners, movers and shakers, and thought leaders who have impacted the legal industry in a significant way.” Rubel is the first non-traditional attorney to be recognized with this honor since its inception.
The publication acknowledged Rubel as being a “busy, non-practicing attorney who has kept her hands in the bar, serving since 2008 as chancellor of The Justinian Society of Philadelphia, a group of Italian-American lawyers and judges.” According to the article, “In that role Gina was successful in bringing United States Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito to speak in Philadelphia as well as prominent Pennsylvania jurists and lawyers.” The publication also noted that, “Rubel heads up the Bar-News Media Committee of the Philadelphia Bar Association, is the head of her own PR and marketing agency, and has become a nationally recognized speaker on how law firms can use social media.”
As a 2010 Woman of Distinction, Rubel joins such notable female attorneys and jurists as Pennsylvania Supreme Court Justice Joan Orie Melvin, Women’s Bureau of the U.S. Department of Labor Director Sara Manzano-Diaz, Philadelphia Common Pleas Court Judges Pamela Pryor Dembe (President Judge), Sandra Mazer Moss (for whom Rubel once worked) and Annette Rizzo, Montgomery County District Attorney Risa Vetri Ferman, and Pennsylvania labor and employment attorney, Deborah R. Willig of Willig, Williams & Davidson.
“It is an honor to be among so many distinguished and successful women leaders,” said Rubel. “Many of these women are my friends and one thing we all have in common is passion for helping others succeed in a traditionally male-dominated industry.” She said, “I am blessed to be a third generation lawyer in Philadelphia, following in the footsteps of my grandfather, Judge Edward W. Furia and my father, Richard F. Furia, both of whom paved the way and have helped hundreds of other attorneys; something I wish to emulate.”
Rubel’s firm provides strategic planning, public relations, marketing, crisis communications, media relations, social media, branding, website and related services to a wide range of clients, including law firms. She is the author of Everyday Public Relations for Lawyers and a co-author of 6 Essentials for Success in Business and Life.
