Furia Rubel is committed to environmental sustainability and we’ve recommitted to a green office in 2020. Here in our renovated barn, the team has always recycled, kept a close eye on the thermostat, and turned off the lights and computers at the end of the day, but we’ve added a few extra ways to stay green.
First, over the last few months, we have stopped printing almost all administrative paperwork or reports, massively cutting down our ink and paper use in the office. We’ve also started using TerraCycle Zero Waste Box™ to recycle K-cup pods. Zero Waste Box is the first comprehensive recycling solution for everything. TerraCycle also offers recycling solutions for household items like packaging and snack wrappers. Working in 20 countries, the company has already diverted millions of pounds of trash from landfills all over the world.
We’ve also started composting organic material which will be added to the compost pile on the property. Composting is important because it keeps materials like fruits and vegetables from landfills where they take up space and release methane, and instead the waste is used to help plants grow.
The beginning of the new year is the perfect time to look over your own office’s sustainability. Climate change and its effects are on all of our minds, and these are the small, but important steps, we can take as a company to do our part in combatting it. And, we aren’t the only ones thinking about it.
Your clients or consumers are likely thinking about it too. Gartner, a research and advisory company, reported that climate change is top of mind for more than half of consumers. Consumers have pushed back on brands to make it the company’s responsibility to be sustainable, and marketing leaders expect it to be an important part of consumer or client decision making in 2020. Consider creating a communications plan to tell your target audience how your company is planning for environmental sustainability. Ask yourself the following questions:
- Is your building LEED certified?
- Does your building have a green roof?
- Do you offer access to a bike-share in your city? For example, Indego is available in Philadelphia and Citi Bike is available in New York City.
- Do employees organize carpools?
- Do you have recycling initiatives?
- Is the office paperless?
Environmental sustainability will continue to be a trend in consumer-making decisions, and it will have to be a key message to your target audiences. If you need help getting your story to your consumers or clients, call Furia Rubel at 215-340-0480.
