The Justinian Foundation Awards Three Scholarships to Law Students

The Justinian Foundation, which provides scholarships to Italian-American students enrolled in Philadelphia-area law schools, recently presented scholarships totaling $4,500 to three area students.

The Justinian Foundation President Barbara A. Capozzi, Esq. awarded $1,500 scholarships to two students entering their final years of law school: Anthony Cassese, of Blairstown, N.J., who attends Drexel University’s Thomas R. Kline School of Law and Anthony Christina, of Swarthmore, who attends Penn State’s Dickinson School of Law. Brian Caputo, of Philadelphia, a LaSalle University graduate entering his first year at Widener University School of Law in Wilmington, Del., was awarded the $1,500 Jules Fiorvanti Scholarship, named for a former chancellor of The Justinian Society.

The Foundation held its annual scholarship reception on June 11 in Philadelphia. Michael Mattioni, Esq., the Chancellor of The Justinian Society, provided the evening’s opening and closing remarks.

The Justinian Society promotes continuing education in law, supports the advancement of qualified and distinguished Justinians in public office, serves the Italian-American legal profession and the community, and strives to uphold a positive image of Italian Americans.

In 1996, members of The Justinian Society formed a separate charitable foundation to provide scholarships to law students of Italian-American heritage. Eligible students are enrolled at Drexel, Temple, University of Pennsylvania, Villanova, Widener and other law schools within Philadelphia and surrounding areas.

About The Justinian Society: Founded in 1935, The Justinian Society is a legal organization comprised of attorneys, judges and law students of Italian ancestry. Located in Philadelphia, the Society's members celebrate generations of involvement within the legal community. For more information, visit www.justinian.org.
