Furia Rubel Gathers a Ton of Food to Benefit Bucks County Housing Group
Furia Rubel, a strategic planning, marketing and public relations agency, teamed up with the Bucks County Housing Group (www.bchg.org) to kick off its annual “Hunger Doesn’t Take a Vacation” food collection program. More than 2,000 pounds, or one ton, of non-perishable food items along with grocery store gift cards and monetary donations were gathered from the Bucks County community and beyond. To cap off the food drive and celebrate its success, a reception was held on May 17, 2012 at the Doylestown food pantry and shelter. Community members and donors were invited to see first-hand where those in need can go to find food and shelter in Bucks County.
“We were touched by the outpouring of donations from the community in support of the Bucks County Housing Group’s ‘Hunger Doesn’t Take a Vacation’ food drive,” said Furia Rubel Founder and CEO Gina F. Rubel, Esq. “So many of us here in Bucks County often take for granted that we can simply open up our kitchen pantry and easily find what we need to make a meal for our families – unlike many of the people that the Bucks County Housing Group helps on a daily basis. What a thrill it was to completely fill the Doylestown pantry.”
“Partnering with Furia Rubel was a great opportunity to spread the news about what we do at the Bucks County Housing Group,” said Nancy Szamborski, Executive Director of the Bucks County Housing Group. “The summer months are when donations are at their lowest, but we are confident that because of the contributions and donations made by Furia Rubel, we will have enough food to serve all those in need throughout Bucks County.”
Furia Rubel collaborated with the Housing Group on this initiative as part of the marketing and PR agency’s “10 for 10” Community Service Campaign to celebrate 10 years in business. The collaboration began when Furia Rubel learned of the need local food pantries have during the summer months when supplies become depleted. Other “10 for 10” efforts include hosting a free self-defense seminar for women in the community, providing pro bono public relations services in support of the United Way of Bucks County Women’s Initiative Power of the Purse event; working with Doylestown Township to spearhead and participate in an Adopt-A-Road Program; serving as the Italian-American community liaison for The James A. Michener Art Museum’s Offering of the Angels: Treasures from the Uffizi Museum Exhibition and the "Night at the Uffizi" gala; providing strategic planning support and participation in Deep Run Mennonite Church East’s Strides for Mission 5K; and volunteering to prepare food at the Ronald McDonald House in Philadelphia.
