Philadelphia VIP Recognizes Furia Rubel PR & Marketing as Outstanding Volunteer at Annual Awards Ceremony

Philadelphia-area Public Relations and Marketing firm, Furia Rubel was recognized with a Business Recognition Award for their work with Philadelphia VIP. The 2010 award honorees were selected based on the outstanding support and services that the firms provided to the staff of Philadelphia VIP (Volunteers for the Indigent Program), a legal pro bono service organization that serves low-income individuals in the region.“I am very proud of the pro bono work we do each year,” said Gina F. Philadelphia VIP hosted its annual awards ceremony at the Ceremonial Courtroom in City Hall on March 10, 2010. Members of the judiciary, attorneys, law students and legal administrators came to pay tribute to the great pro bono work that the VIP's volunteers accomplished in 2009. Firms of all sizes, corporations, businesses, legal services organizations and individual attorneys received awards as a result of their extraordinary commitment to VIP, its clients and the community.

In 2009, VIP received almost 2,500 requests for legal assistance from low-income Philadelphians who are among the poorest in the region and cannot afford an attorney. More than 1,000 VIP volunteers responded to these requests handling issues involving a range of practice areas including: adoption; zoning; assisting individuals, nonprofits and small businesses maintain income during the economic downturn; supporting the stability of families; preventing homelessness amidst the housing crisis; and promoting community economic development by investing in local communities.
