Feldman Shepherd Wohlgelernter Tanner Weinstock & Dodig LLP
Media Relations & Trial Publicity
Feldman Shepherd Wohlgelernter Tanner Weinstock & Dodig LLP
is a noted Philadelphia law firm that represents plaintiffs in significant personal injury and other civil litigation. Their clients include victims of negligent medical care, defective products, unsafe workplaces, motor vehicle accidents and malpractice by attorneys and other professionals. The firm has also received recognition for its precedent-setting work in the areas of HMO litigation, disability insurance claims, "bad faith" cases, consumer class actions and litigation arising from unfair insurance company practices.
Furia Rubel serves as the agency of record and provides strategic counsel and media relations services to Feldman Shepherd. Furia Rubel’s goal is to increase awareness of Feldman Shepherd’s history of success on behalf of its clients and to position the firm’s attorneys as leaders in Pennsylvania and New Jersey in specific areas of litigation.
Because of its ongoing relationships with print, broadcast and online media – regionally and nationally – Furia Rubel has been able to publicize cases handled by Feldman Shepherd that have resulted in outstanding exposure for the firm. Overall, it has benefited from more than 92 million impressions in one year worth nearly a half-million dollars: a tremendous return on its investment.
In November 2007, for example, Furia Rubel directed coverage when Feldman Shepherd filed a class action lawsuit on behalf of people who were charged a fee to file their taxes electronically. Media stories across the country generated more than 61 million impressions, with a value of approximately $44,000* to the firm.
Furia Rubel also handled media relations starting in February 2008 when Feldman Shepherd called for criminal charges to be filed against a truck driver in connection with a fatal drunk driving accident in 2005. Feldman Shepherd attorney Mark Tanner won an $11 million settlement on behalf of the victim’s family. Tanner then asked Pennsylvania Attorney General Tom Corbett to investigate why criminal charges were never filed against the driver, suggesting he may have received preferential treatment because he is the stepson of a state police corporal. As a result of the media coverage that included an exclusive undercover, there were more than 28 million impressions worth nearly $200,000*.
In another high-profile case Furia Rubel landed the firm a front-
page story in the Philadelphia Daily News. The suit was filed by Feldman Shepherd on behalf of a Delaware County woman whose two-year-old son suffered serious injuries after he swallowed powerful magnets that were part of a Magnetix toy. The story, in December 2007, was among several placements that generated an estimated 2,698,261 impressions of the Feldman Shepherd name, publicity valued at nearly $20,000*.
As public relations agency of record for Feldman Shepherd, Furia Rubel will continue to aggressively publicize its cases while also exploring other strategies to solidify the firm’s position as a key player in the legal industry.
